Hi, I'm Liz. I live with my husband and two kids in Denver, where mountains meet metro. By my own admission, I am the queen of cheap. I love finding great deals, but more than that, I love finding pleasure in the simple things in life. I truly believe living rich doesn't have to be expensive.

Cheap or Free

Living rich doesn't have to be expensive

Mother May I?

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

There are so many reasons to love May:

  • The yuckiness of April is finally over and spring is in full bloom
  • Cinco de Mayo is the perfect excuse to enjoy some Mexican and margaritas
  • Mother's Day provides moms with a day to be lavished with flowers and gifts and (hopefully) someone else to do the dishes
  • Wedding anniversaries start popping up, signaling the start of summer lovin'
  • And birthdays, with all their celebratory goodness, almost overtake the calendar!
Speaking of birthdays, everyone I know with a May birthday (and there are a lot of you!) share something in common: a great smile which generally accompanies an overall zest for life. If you were born in May, you know what I'm talking about. Maybe it's because we were all born in such a beautiful month full of promise! (Oh yeah, did I mention my birthday is May 9th?)

Happy birthday to all you May babies out there! Here is my gift to you - a list I've compiled of my favorite restaurant birthday freebies:

Qdoba - buy one get one free entree (pick up a Qdoba Card and register it online)
Red Robin - free gourmet burger (sign up to join their eClub)
Papa Murphy's - free cookie dough with pizza purchase (join their eClub)
Texas Roadhouse - free appetizer (become a VIP online)
Cold Stone Creamery - free "creation" (join their Birthday Club online)

And so the answer is a resounding, "Yes, you may!" Have your cake and free food, too.

Happy May!
